Christmas in July – Christmas Trees, Baubles, Angels, Santas, reindeer and snowmen, 16 members, 3 guest and 1 Bundy Bear!
On Saturday the 23rd July, 16 members, 3 guests and 1 Bundy bear headed to Broadwater camping area in Abergowrie State Forest for “Christmas in July”. After the camp was set, campsites decorated in Christmas theme and the dining area arranged a few members went for a walk on the various short tracks. Some even braved the refreshing water for a quick swim.
The fire was started and members started getting their meals ready for the Christmas feast. All of the dishes were delicious, it was a feast fit for any four wheel driver! There were a few Christmas songs sung around the fire, the Christmas trivia was won by Renata.
For the best decorated campsite competition, there was a good display of baubles, Christmas Trees, Angels, Santas, reindeer and snowmen.
Nic and bev’s display was looking like being a finalist until Nic said that Bev didn’t make the matching Santas – they were a gift.
Rick and Renata’s campsite was impressive with matching baubles, tent and esky – all in a nice blue colour.
Howard made sure his bedding complimented the Christmas colour theme – red and white – white sheets and red blanket.
Leanne gave out Christmas cards now as will not be in Townsville in December – nice gesture.
Nic & Val didn’t turn on their lights until later. Probably so that we did not get “flashed” too early.
But the prize went to Marie and Wayne who had all the trimmings. A very salubrious Angel as a centre piece for the table and Christmas music ( a little slow to find however) but were finally seranaded with “Silver Bells” – nice singing.
A great effort was done by all.
After a relaxing start on Sunday, people left to return to Townsville, with a group stopping at the Ashton pub for lunch. All participants would like to thank Cole-Lee and Wassa for organising the Christmas festivities and a great trip.
More awesome photo’s of this great trip can be found on the clubs Facebook page. Enjoy!
