Trip Leader – Alisha.
On the 12th August 2017, the Townsville & District 4WD club attended the Charters Towers 4×4 Club “Come and Try Day” at the North Queensland Motor Sports Complex.
After setting up camp on Saturday, we adventured out into the bush to face some of the challenging 4×4 tracks. There were a few injuries on the day, nothing major, and a little bit of winching.
Everyone involved had heaps of fun and learnt a few things along the way. The aim of the “Come and Try Day” was to test the limitations of the vehicle.
Next door to the 4×4 tracks was rally car racing, which was very entertaining to watch. The challenge of the rally car racing was that the drivers had one chance to remember and complete different courses in the shortest amount of time.
A few members also went to the Tors Drive-In Cinema to watch Transformers: The Last Knight and Baywatch on Saturday night.
The Charters Towers 4×4 Club was very hospitable by allowing us to stay the night beside some of the premade 4×4 tracks.
In the morning we split ways; some of us heading home and some of us stayed for the “Come and Try Day” on the Sunday. We all had loads of 4WDing fun and will definitely be done again.
