Private Property Paluma 22-23 July 2017

Trip Leader – Nick, 6 vehicles plus 1 late arrival.
With Nick as trip leader 6 vehicles left the servo at Yabulu. Lindsay rang to say he was ‘late’ and would catch up.

It was an easy drive up the range without meeting any traffic. Had the usual comfort stop at Paluma, it was a cool 15deg with a lot of fog around the village.

After collecting ‘just enough’ fire wood on the road in we set up our camp then left with Tim at 10:50 to drive on a ‘new area (to us) of the property, he stopped at the section he wanted removed. We split into two groups, working in opposite directions. The fence had three strands of barbed wire with ‘droppers’ and star pickets. With the wire cutters and post puller we moved along well. Alisha had her two dogs as helpers. There were some great views across the valleys to look at while we worked.

We found a shady spot for lunch then back to the job. Lindsay, Rick and Renata and George left about 3 to drive back to Townsville. We continued on for a while then drove back to camp, got the fire lit, showers for some, happy hour. Val and Cole-lee celebrated their golf hole in one from last week at Mini-golf with a bottle of bubbly. Then we all enjoyed dinner, and the campfire chatter.

Sunday most went to the section we had started on previously and completed another section, it was great seeing the progress on the new camp area. We packed up and left Sunday at 12:20. Another great weekend.
